SWA - Early Bird Check-in |
Lead | ||
|
Cost is $10
What is EarlyBird Check-in?
EarlyBird Check-in is a new, low-cost option that gives you the benefit of having an automatically assigned boarding position, allowing you to board
earlier than Customers using our traditional checkin procedures. As an EarlyBird Check-in Customer you will have a better opportunity to select your preferred
seat and have greater access to overhead bin stowage for your carryon luggage than our general boarding Customers. This affordable option automatically
reserves for you the next best boarding position available, allowing you to board the plane after Business Select Customers and Rapid Rewards A-List Members.
Will EarlyBird Check-in Customers get an "A" Boarding Pass and be among the first to board?
Probably, but not always. It depends upon how many Business Select, Rapid Rewards A-List, and EarlyBird Check-in Customers are on a given flight.
However, as an EarlyBird Check-in Customer you will definitely get a better boarding position than Customers in the general boarding group.
Who can purchase EarlyBird Check-in?
Customers who have purchased electronic tickets at the Wanna Get Away Fare, Anytime Fare, Senior Fare or DING! Fare can benefit from purchasing EarlyBird
Check-in. Priority boarding privileges are already included with the purchase of Business Select fares and are a benefit of being on the Rapid Rewards A-List.
EarlyBird Check-in Customers will receive boarding positions after Business Select and A-List Customers.

Looks like all the airlines are looking for a way to make extra money.
This will pretty much do away with the looking at the clock to check in 24 hours before the flight. I would be willing to pay the 10 dollars but if most of the passengers pay it you could still get a bad seat. |

We are doing it for our flight from portland to Vegas because I know we will be out with friends when we are supposed to check in and I dont want to stress
over it. If we book a show the night before we fly home from vegas I'm going to add it then too. My theory... if I add it to my seat and I'm checkin in
then I can save my husbands seat for him. $20 to take away something that always gets me stressed is money well spent
Not something I'd use for every flight but great if I know I'm not going to be near a computer at the 24hr mark |

I had to think about that for a minute, but I've decided I like it.

Using it Nov 22nd... if no one else reports back on it before then I will
There used to be a 3rd party service that did this for I think $5 each way. I never trusted it so I didnt try it but when they were in business you had a hard time getting anything under A40 even at the 24 hr mark. I'd much rather pay SW $10 and have them do it for me 36 hrs ahead. They have by far the best rates to anywhere I fly. I'm just looking at it as the tix costing $10 more each way which is still a steal. |

I might be able to get a feel for what this means to those of us that don't use it when I get our boarding passes for our Oct. trip out. I'm always at
the computer and plug in the very second the 24 hour period starts, usually getting A31 to A 35 depending on how many others are doing the same thing.
It'll be interesting to see how far down on the food chain I drop with this new program.

We don't plan to pay it but I'm sure most everyone will. It would add a $40 FEE to every flight we take. We always have two conf #'s. I guess if
there is only one conf # there is only one fee each way?
