Thought I would share my thoughts over the M Life Comp system since this trip in July is the first time I've stayed there since they were to their new system. Putting aside that for me with my bad luck this last trip that their slots seemed incredibly tight, I have to admit I like the new comp system. Previously I had to guess how much food and beverages I was entitled too and at least with the new system I can tell what I'm entitled to outside of my primary comps. In addition to earning express comps, the fact we get holiday shopping points and pointplay too makes it seem like a generous player's club system.
Warning some of the slots give very few points for dollars spent while others seem fair, and at Bellagio during the slot tournament which I need to get a minimum of 10,000 extra points to be eligible for their extra innings session I found myself playing the slots that gave me the most points in return for my play. What's confusing for example is that at Bellagio the points seemed accurate and fair for slots like Hitchcock theatre and the original Goldfish but playing them at NYNY the points were slow to come and it seemed to me someone had made a mistake at NYNY and had some of the slots set at VP level of point return. For me that means I'm going to have to really watch and see if the slots are returning points at the rate I feel they should.
So at the end of my stay at Bellagio and Aria, I had around $600.00 in express comps. At Aria the offer I was using there included a certain amount of food and beverage a day so I didn't need to use express comps or go see a host in order for them to remove charges without touching my express counts. At Bellagio I didn't have a daily food & beverage allowance except for the food and beverages at the tournament, but I didn't want to use my express comps, I wanted to save them for my next trip in case I don't gamble as much, want to use them for the Spa or tickets for shows for friends or eat at their restaurants while staying and playing elsewhere. So what I had to do was go see a host in VIP services since mine wasn't available, and have them look at my play and since I did play a lot they took off all my charges on what they called my primary comps and left the express comps alone. So if you have played a lot during your trip, don't checkout without seeing VIP services or a host, otherwise registration will use your express comps on your room charges when you could have gotten them removed and had your express comps left alone for a future Vegas trip.
