Just curious - what do other people do? I'm starting to feel left out when I read all these fabulous adventurous trip reports.
It seems all we care about is feeding the jones in us.

What do you do in Sin City? |

OKAY, T and I were chatting about our upcoming trip and all the gambling and eating and sleeping (ya right) we're going to do and we got to thinking. I
read trip reports all the time of people going to ghost towns, and Laughlin and hiking (God bless you Pnut) and I was wondering if there's something wrong
with us because we never want to do that stuff. We say we're going to go to a ghost town this time or drive
out to a shopping outlet next time, but never end up doing it. We always end up gambling, eating, seeing shows, gambling, eating, gambling, eating - not in
that order - LOL. Although we are seeing 2 shows this time!
Just curious - what do other people do? I'm starting to feel left out when I read all these fabulous adventurous trip reports. It seems all we care about is feeding the jones in us.

Mom I think it depends on how long your trip is and also where you are from. Our trips are always for a week. Our last trip in Dec we did just about what you
did. My hub had been running ragged at work and was exhausted but it can get real expensive if you don't have any wins.
What we have done in the past is have breakfast then play for an hour or so then head out to Red Rock and drive the loop. We are from the east so we don't have anything that looks like that here. Afterwards we might stop at Red Rock casino and play a bit or have dinner at Lucielles BBQ there. The food is so good. Then we drive back to our home casino and play the rest of the night. Our best trips have really been the ones that we plan the day as to where we are going. It's not in stone but it gives us something new each trip. We have been to Lake Mead. I love their dinner cruise. Great food and service. Nice boat ride and nothing like gazing up at the stars on the deck on the ride back from the dam. So relaxing. That is what is so great about Vegas. There is something for everyone and there is no right or wrong way of doing it. Just do what you guy's like. |

Thanks Marge. We always go for a minimum of a week, although last year was 10 days. And it can real expensive, you're absolutely right.
I think I was just curious as to what others do with their time.... |

For as long as I've been going to Vegas, I've done all of the "touristy stuff" I care to do. So I'm like you...it's pretty much
gamble and dining that gets my attention. Naturally I like to see the new joints (haven't got a look at Palazzo yet) and catch a show every now and then,
but overall it's ganbling and pig'n out.
Now that's different if I happen to be with a first timer. I go the joe tourist route then, but I'm gettin too darn old to do all of that traipsing around. Jack |

You name it,i have probably done it.
As much as i love gambling,i don't want to return from Vegas with only memories of the inside of various casinos. I always make sure i have lots of other things planned to be sure of getting the best out of every trip. Despite only having been to Vegas 9 times,i have also been to the Grand Canyon 9 times. With a 5,000+ mile journey to LV from the UK,whats another couple of hundred miles to see one of the seven wonders of the World. Apart from the GC,other trips/tours i have done total over 25. I have seen over 50 shows (some more than once) I could go on but i don't want to bore you. I love Vegas for its variety, and i make sure i sample as much of it as i possibly can. John.

Dramble (drink and gamble) non-stop with some food and maybe a show in there. But the show is pushing it...
I wouldn't sleep but it makes the drambling harder to stay awake the whole time. |

at Drambler!
I try to make sure I do at least a couple new things every trip. That way I don't feel like too much of a slug. But I do find that my resolve to do "new things" fades as the trip goes on and I get more tired. It is best to try new things at the beginning...when I am full of energy! |

I always try (and do) a couple of new things every trip! Our trips are for the most part five or six days and three to four times a year. There is often a new
Casino/Hotel that I have not become familiar with or a side trip tour that I have not seen? Many of the places that once were new to me are now being imploded
and I will see them one last time. In the many trips that we have taken to Las Vegas there are (even now) some things still on my "To Do List". I
could still name around a dozen with out even breaking a sweat! I like to gamble and still manage to gamble my usual number of hours every day. Life is too
short to not do what you wish! Don't feel guilt, do what you wish and feel like....

Most of my Vegas trips are usually 1-2 weeks and I've been averaging ca. 2 trips per year (more, if I happen to be in the area on business
). I try to do a variety of things and like to include something that I
haven't done or seen on a previous trip.
Since gambling is only a small part of my agenda, I spend a good portion of my time seeing shows, shopping, dining, playing "tourist", people watching (one of my favorite hobbies ), taking side-trips to Red Rock,
Valley Of Fire, Henderson (to visit relatives), Lake Las Vegas, Pahrump, etc. Also, I tend to do/plan different things depending on whether I'm going
"solo", with my girl friend, or if it's a "guys only" trip .
A few things on my "To Do" list that I still need to complete include visiting Laughlin, Hoover Dam, the Neon Boneyard, taking one of those Hellicopter tours around Vegas (maybe include the Grand Canyon too), staying downtown for a couple of days, seeing the airshow at Nellis AFB (assuming that I can plan a trip when it's scheduled ).

I spend many hours gambling, but I do like to see a show every night. And try out different restaurants.

Gamble, eat, sit by the pool, have a drink or two, gamble some more, eat some more, drink some more and eventually go to sleep. Get up, get dressed, get
breakfast and bring it up to room for lovely wife, go for a walk and then repeat the day before. One afternoon is usually dedicated to shopping and half of
one day for me will be hiking in Red Rock. We generally stay for 6 days at a time. I know that there are shows in Vegas, but we are not big show people.
Heck we've been to Vegas over twenty times and I still haven't been inside Mandalay Bay and only briefly made it through Excalibur.
SERIOUSLY BEING EXCELLENT!!!!!! ![]() ![]() |
